I spent some time here a while back, but was exiled after realizing how corrupt the Democratic party had become.
I’m still hoping that the party will come around and recognize the incredible energy and opportunity that is being squandered by not embracing progressive values. From what I can see, there isn’t a significant movement to reduce defense spending, and to stop fighting unnecessary wars. There isn’t a significant Democratic alternative to the current status quo for health care. And there doesn’t seem to be a whole lot of party leadership focused on specific environmental travesties, or even on the struggles that some women face when they choose abortion.
From my perspective the Democratic party is still focused on OMG Trump! and OMG Russia! … When it’s long past time to get back to work on building a movement that cares about issues — and doing everything possible to stop voter suppression and to guarantee that votes are properly counted.
So hate me if you must, but it seemed like a good time to stop in and let you all know that I’m still out here. I’m incredibly discouraged by how things have been going, yet still hopeful that eventually we’ll figure out how to work together.
